Give us a sense of the landscape out there right now. What percentage of your clients are producing videos for marketing on the web?

It seems that every marketing department of almost every company is clamoring to produce video for the web. At least 70% of the marketing videos we produce are are created to live online. Both produce great looking video with a relatively small file size.

What format do you shoot in for the web?

We produce everything we do in either 4K, 2K or 1920x1080p even if it's ultimately intended for the web. Depending on the job we shoot with either the Red One, our Panasonic 2P card-based Varicam, or if our client is on a tighter budget Sony EX1.

Why shoot in HD if it's just intended for the web which is going to be compressed?

There are several advantages to shooting in a higher resolution format even if it's overkill for the web. One reason is that it gives the editor the possibility to re-size the footage (crop in) without loosing a lot of image quality. Another value in shooting in a 4K, 2K or HD 1920x1080p is that you are future proofing your videos so that when web quality does catch up your videos are already in high quality HD. The other adantage is that you never know when you might need to repurpose that footage for a sale presentation on a larger screen.

What do you think is the future of video on the web?

I think we will see more interactive engagement such as clickable hot spots, 3d manipulation of images, synchronized web page events, sidebar video segments, which will extend the experience of web video viewing beyond the 16:9 frame and onto the web page that surrounds it.

You can now have a magazine with embedded videos, web links, sound, and motion graphics all within an magazine article. The fact that you can access all of this from a ipad or other mobile devices makes this a technological development with real staying power.

Tommy Douglas was born to a poor family and when he was young, he suffered a severe bone infection. This was treatable, but without the sufficient funds of the family, Tommy was not able to get it fixed and as a result, he was scheduled for a leg amputation. Even with such a dreadful fate on his hands, Tommy went to search for a better solution and by the slightest of chances; he met a doctor who was willing to do the surgery for free as long as his students could observe.

The story ended with Tommy keeping his leg and this was the story that inspired Tommy Douglas to take action. His dream was to allow every person to be able to receive health care, no matter the financial status and with this goal; he became the premier of Saskatchewan and offered the citizens of Saskatchewan Universal Healthcare. With these changes, Canada has become a better nation that boasts excellent living conditions and proved by the Human Development Index. Universal health care is obviously better for the citizens than private health care and it was the courage and initiative taken by Tommy Douglas that made the change possible. Before Tommy Douglas came around, there weren't many significant differences between America and Canada and with those socialistic, yet beneficial touches to the government, Tommy Douglas changed the face of Canada for the better.

During the First World War, all the soldiers of both sides wanted a better solution than all the fighting and killing, an alternative that did not involve as much violence and pointless combat. However, they did not know that the Canadian medic, Lester B. Pearson, would later in his life convince the world and achieve such a goal. With a strong educational background, Lester B. Pearson could have done pretty much anything he wanted, but his dedication for change forced him to turn down many appealing jobs and take up politics.

When he finally became Prime Minister, he had a job to do: to spare his people from the dreadfulness of war and racism. With that mind set, he did not send Canadian troops to Vietnam and rid of the racist immigration laws especially against the Chinese and Jews. With his immigration policies, Pearson created the multicultural Canada that we live in today and opened Canada to many opportunities and prosperities due to them. However, the possibly most important deed that Pearson did was not on the national scale, but rather on the international scale.

When the Suez Crisis occurred, Pearson did not see the valid reason for all the violence and deaths resulted from the violence. As a result, he led the UN into creating peacekeepers to resolve the issue. The goal of peacekeepers wasn't to stop the war with force, but instead enforce peace treaties, create living conditions even with the presence of war and make sure human rights are carried out throughout the whole world. Introducing peace keepers allowed Canada to take initiative and become famous and second for intensive peace keeping everywhere.

The final deed which Pearson changed Canada was by changing the image that the world saw Canada with, its flag. With Canada having lost many of its original ties to Britain, the Union Jack on the Canadian flag was no longer appropriate. Successful Child Actors: Kirk And Candace Cameron

In her book appropriately named “A Full House of Growing Pains,” Barbara recounts her life as a typical Christian mother raising two not-so-typical children. Today Kirk and Chelsea have six children and Kirk has partnered with Way of the Master Ministries. In addition, he has stared in the Left Behind movies and continues to take on acting roles.

Candace Cameron was introduced to NHL hockey player Valeri Bure by former co-star Dave Coulier and the two were married in 1996. They have three children and currently reside in Florida. Candace speaks at various churches, colleges and outreach events in addition to being involved in organizations like the Starlight Foundation, Make-A-Wish, Compassion International, Children’s Hunger Fund and Sheridan House Family Ministries.

On Getting Started in Entertainment

CIF: What were the early signs that your child was meant to be in the limelight?
BC: There were no early “signs” that our children were meant for this business. It was something that just happened. Another showbiz mother, and friend of mine, encouraged me for years to get the kids involved.

CIF: How did you find your first agent?
BC: We lived in the same apartment building as Adam Rich’s (“Eight Is Enough”) family. For years, Adam’s mother Fran encouraged me to get my children in the business saying that I should really take my kids in to see her agent, Iris Burton. I trusted Fran and her opinion. Finally, I agreed not thinking that anything would ever become of it. A few days later Iris Burton was our agent. Today, however, I would encourage parents to interview the agent just as much as the agent is interviewing them and their child. Find the one that you feel good about representing your child.

CIF: How many auditions did you go on before the first job?
BC: Kirk booked his first commercial after about the 6th audition. I don’t think it was more than a dozen before Candace booked her first commercial.

On Making it in Show Biz

CIF: What was your first big break?
BC: Though there was a progression of “big breaks” everyday, because small roles led to bigger roles, I guess Kirk’s would be “Growing Pains”. It was during the years of Growing Pains that Kirk became one of America’s teen stars and through this show, he became very popular. Candace’s break came from her role on a feature film, “Punchline” with Sally Field, John Goodman and Tom Hanks. It was during this film that the audition came in for “Full House”.

CIF: Any funny/interesting stories from when you were first getting started?
BC: One story that I can remember was an event at the Disney Studios. We were invited to attend and Kirk brought along a girl friend of his. They found a bicycle and rode tandem. There were paparazzi taking pictures of all the celebrities that attended. They spotted Kirk and followed him trying to capture a photo. Kirk was very good at dodging the media and did his best to find refuge. But the photographers were insistent and so his dad had an idea! They were able to find an abandoned building on the lot. It was there that they exchanged clothes, coat, and hat and “Kirk” (really his dad) rode off on the bicycle with Kirks friend. The paparazzi saw the two of them and yelled, “There he is!” Robert, disguised as Kirk, rode off, paparazzi’s chasing them, leaving Kirk free to escape into the crowd. It was a fun idea for awhile, but the photographers eventually got smart and realized that they were “had”.

On Education

CIF: How did you school your children?
BC: During Kirk’s high school years, we were able to have him attend his school for a class or two before filming (on set he had a studio teacher). This would give him the opportunity to stay connected with his classmates at his regular school. He graduated with his class with high honors. Candace was tutored on the set for a number of years and when she entered high school, we enrolled her in a private school so that she could develop a social life outside the studio. She missed being among her peers and there were a few kids at her regular school that were making it difficult for her to attend there on a regular basis. Being able to attend this school was wonderful, and helped her connect with friends that she still has today!
